Frequently Asked Questions
- What are people saying about your program (Testimonials)?
“JobTutors has opened my eyes to so many little tricks that potential employers really notice that will make me stand out amongst the 800 other applications that they are looking at. They care about what I am passionate about and really want me to succeed doing something I love. If I know how to make myself stand out, and if I am taking the steps I need to take to get my name in front of employers’ faces, I am already ahead of the game. College students are trained extensively on formulas and concepts, but there are no classes on how to get a job so you can put those formulas and concepts to use. Steve and Sue’s program is my class on how to get a job and I would recommend it to anyone and have.” JobTutors Client
“Steve Harvey and Susan Carlow counseled me on networking strategies for making a successful career transition. Applying these strategies, I made influential contacts which directly attributed to securing the exact position in the industry that I was seeking within 8 weeks. I can say without reservation that had I not leveraged Susan's and Steve's expertise, the timeline (and perhaps even the result) would have been very different.” JobTutors Client
“They really care and have great enthusiasm for helping job seekers learn the skills they need to get where they want to be not just for their first job out, but throughout their careers. Sometimes job seekers just need that extra push, whether it be a confidence boost, a resume makeover, interview practice, or whatever is needed to get going in the correct direction. I feel very confident that Steve and Susan are excellent at providing that to their clients.” Asst Dean Business School, Director Career Services
“Steve and Sue are authentically doing what they promise. They don’t promise a job, they promise closing the cavernous gap between knowing what it takes to present oneself as the best candidate and the offer. What I love about JobTutors is that Steve and Susan give the same high quality, intensive attention to young people who have sunk all they have and borrowed more to earn a college degree, and offer this help affordably.” University Professor of Management

- What specifically happens during the sessions?
The sessions are one-to-two (you with Steve and Sue) and customized to your needs. The typical framework for these sessions is as follows:
Session 1 Introductory Meeting with Steve and Sue
Session 2 Building Your Image and Resume Through Branding
Session 3 Conducting Function, Industry and Company Research
Session 4 Creating Your Network
Session 5 Finding Job Opportunities
Session 6 Developing strong interviewing Skills
Session 7 Handling Offers and Acceptance>After the Introductory Meeting, each session will begin with your update (based on your tracking system) and a review of any outstanding assignments.
After each session, we will email you the “minutes of our session”. Accomplishments to-date, your assignments, information or documents we need to provide you and the next session agenda.
Some sessions such as networking may be in small groups.
- Do I have to come to your office?
If you are local, we prefer to work with you in person. If you are not local, we can conduct the sessions by phone or Skype.
- How long does it take to get through the program and how often will we meet?
There are seven sessions in the program. Since there are tasks that need to be completed, the scheduling of the sessions will depend on the time you need to finish assignments in a manner that is professional and well thought out. It is more important to understand the process and produce effective communication pieces than complete the program quickly.
- What if I get a job before I complete the program?
It would still be beneficial to complete the program since the skills and tools you learn will benefit you throughout your career.
You do however have the option to change the content of the sessions. If you move forward quickly with an opportunity, we can prepare you for a specific interview and provide follow-up tips and help evaluate the offer and the position. In addition, we can provide other topics such as effective on boarding. (On boarding is the process of assimilating into a new job.)
- What if I need some advice between sessions or after the program is completed?
We are always available for a 15 minute phone call or will respond to your emails. If your needs are more in-depth, we can schedule a 50 minute session at a reduced fee.
