With over 30 years combined experience and hundreds of placements in executive recruiting, Steve Harvey and Susan Carlow understand both employers and the job seekers. Their expertise is invaluable to college graduates.
As a duo, Steve and Sue work successfully as a team because each brings a different perspective and skill set to the search process. Steve’s training and interpersonal skills and Sue’s research and e-recruiting strategies combine to form an effective approach for job seekers. Designing an action plan for each client, the team’s program is effective because of their diligent approach to planning and followup.
During the program, Steve and Sue work one-on-one with clients through a curriculum focused on finding that first job and starting a successful career. Practical guidance on job searching, interviewing and networking are the core elements of the program. A desire to help a new generation of workers become energized about their future is the motivation for Steve and Sue.
With JobTutors, Steve and Sue bring years of expertise into the classroom so that, when grads step out into their new world, they are ready to achieve independence.
The Story of JobTutors
As both Steve and Sue’s children and their children’s friends prepared to leave college and enter the workforce, they noticed some trends unique to this generation, including:
- Fierce competition from new job seekers, those postponing retirement or switching to a second career.
- The Internet and social networking as a large component of the search process.
- Frequent job changes during careers, with savvy job seekers coming out on top.
In researching college career centers and personal coaches, they found several smart and capable mentors but no one seemed to have the combination of real world experience and hands-on formal training.
Steve and Sue knew that, as certified personnel and recruiting specialists, their experience and skills could help college grads remove the barriers that face them on their path to independence. They also knew that working with college grads would be fun and rewarding. Thus, JobTutors was born.
